Yes. Recording, transcription, translation and the drafting assistant all run on-device using Apple silicon. The only feature that needs a connection is publishing a post to your blog — and even that is queued in the Outbox and sent automatically once you reconnect.

Everything stays in the app's local storage on your device (and in your own iCloud backup if you enable it). PressNote has no servers of its own, so your audio, transcripts and unpublished notes are never uploaded to us or anyone else.

Go to Prepare for Offline before your event. You'll see each transcription and translation model with its size and download state. Downloading over Wi-Fi is recommended. Once a model shows a green check, it works fully offline. PressNote can keep five speech models downloaded at a time; if you reach the limit, remove one on the same screen to make room for another language.

Yes — add it to Subject terms when you create or edit the event or course. These are the names, acronyms and terms of art your recordings will actually use — drug names, tickers, framework names — and PressNote steers speech recognition toward them, so they are transcribed correctly from the very first session instead of guessed at. Add just the term, spelled the way it should appear, not a definition. PressNote also learns from your own past transcripts in the same project, so later sessions get more accurate on their own. Subject terms only affect transcription: they never leave your device and never appear in a summary, draft or export.

A note you write is marked with a lock. Publishable notes can be folded into the assistant's summaries and posts; Private notes are for your eyes only and are never included in generated drafts or exports unless you change them.

On macOS, choose System Audio as your source to capture a stream directly — for example a livestreamed press conference — with no room noise. On iPad, use the built-in or a directional microphone.

PressNote supports WordPress, Ghost and any Micropub-compatible blog. Connect your site once in settings, then queue posts to the Outbox; they publish automatically the moment a connection returns.

Yes. Connect your WordPress site and choose a live post in the Publish tab — a recent post or one created on the spot. During the event, select the transcript passages you want, generate a blog draft on device, and publish: each publish appends a timestamped update to that same post, so the story builds while the event is still running instead of after it ends. If you lose connection, updates wait in the Outbox and append in order once you're back online.

PressNote deletes it. Once a meeting has been transcribed, the audio recording is removed from your device automatically — the transcript, your notes, and anything you generated from them are kept. It isn't a setting you can forget to switch on: meetings work this way by design, and the app tells you so when you create one. Events and classes are different — their audio stays until you delete it yourself.

Yes. Rules on recording and transcribing conversations vary by country and by state, and many treat a transcript of a private conversation the same way they treat a recording — so deleting the audio doesn't remove the obligation. PressNote shows a reminder before your first meeting recording, but it can't know where you are or what everyone has already agreed to. Tell the people in the room or on the call.

PressNote doesn't join your call — it never connects to a meeting service, and no one on the call sees a bot. On a Mac it records the System Audio: whatever is playing through your Mac, which is the other participants. Your own voice isn't in that capture, so if you need everything said in the room, record with the microphone instead. On iPad, meetings are recorded with the microphone.

From a recording, use Export to copy or share clean Markdown, which drops into any editor or CMS. You can also copy an individual assistant draft as Markdown.
